Magic Pig Cells May Cure Diabetes

We've all heard of using pig organs as a replacement for human organs. But recent en devours by scientists has revealed the usefulness of pigs in the field of medicine doesn't stop there. Diabetics have an imbalance of glucose (sugar) in the blood. This condition is suppressed with daily insulin shots, which are not only annoying, but can lead to collapsed veins and infection risks. But recent investigation into the pigs pancreas has found that pigs produce insulin synthesizing cells in their pancreas. The cells are collected from the embryos of pigs, before they are able to create proteins associated with rejection from human subjects, and are injected for a set period of time in to the subjects. There are still some details to polish up, like rejection and possible theoretical health risks to patients. But all in all, the vision looks steady.
